VP of Finance oversees all accounting and financial operations for the business while also contributing as a key organizational leader, driving efforts to achieve strategic objectives. As a senior executive, candidates will have the leadership and organizational skills to direct a team of accounting professionals in the controlled and accurate accounting and reconciliation of company books. While efforts will focus on strategic leadership and deeper financial analysis, the VP of finance is also expected to be capable of ?getting in the weeds? with day-to-day book keeping when required.
It is critical that candidates for this position must think and act on their feet, be able to make significant independent business decisions in the best interest of the organization while also being highly detail and process oriented. This position has high visibility, both inside and outside of the organization. Any candidate should expect that they will frequently be required to act as a public face for our company with 3rd party vendors, service providers, shareholders, and existing or potential business partners.
Responsibilities
Monthly financial closing & reporting of detailed income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, and bank reconciliation
Deep review and summary analysis of monthly financials, including year-to-date, budget-to-date, and period-over-period results with special focus on sizable and/or atypical variances
Monthly, Quarterly, and Year-End reporting and presentation of financials and analysis to board of directors, including participation in overall strategic discussion and planning
Deep understanding of the organization (both systematic and strategic) and the ability to apply that knowledge to budgeting and other FP&A activities, helping to lead organization wide efforts in achieving strategic goals
Higher level and proprietary accounting, including but not limited to: Payroll, labor capitalization, transaction/M&A accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, fixed asset management, debt covenant accounting, and adherence to GAAP
Ownership of cost analysis and the development and execution of projects to optimize costs, such as product mix optimization, rebate program management, payment card programs, and freight cost analysis and contract negotiation
Working closely with management cross-functionally to both analyze and optimize departmental overhead and other costs as well as contribute to overall strategic efforts
Manage the year-end audit process
Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting / Finance, MBA or M.S. in a relevant field preferred
5+ years of relevant experience as a CFO, Finance/Accounting VP, or other Accounting Executive with strategic responsibility and direct management of an accounting staff
Relevant work experience in a multi-channel retail and/or manufacturing environment with e-commerce experience and/or high transaction volume preferred
Demonstrated organizational leadership experience
Ability to take in, understand, and apply new concepts and ideas quickly
Ability to adapt to change quickly and drive that adaptation through the organization
Extremely detail and process oriented
Experience managing year-end audit process and outside accounting firm relationships
Experience managing bank credit agreements
Experience as a senior accounting professional in companies with private equity ownership
Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written
Self-motivated, hands-on, detail oriented with the ability to take the initiative
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Experience presenting directly to a board of directors a plus
Experience with the Infor Visual Manufacturing ERP platform
Experience working in a very technology and analytically driven organization
Exceptional analytical skills
Strong skills with Microsoft Excel
