Spiritual Care Counselor Job Opening in santa barbara, California - Spiritual Care Counselor Hospice of Santa Barbara, the second oldest Hospice in the United States, is seeking a new three-quarter time Spiritual Care Counselor. Job summary: In coordination with the Director of Clinical Services, the Spiritual Care Counselor ? be part of the Community Palliative Care interdisciplinary team, ? shall be responsible for the spiritual care provided to patients, clients, families and staff of Hospice of Santa Barbara, ? provides spiritual assessments, development and implementation of a spiritual plan of care, ? integrate the experience of pain, anticipatory grief and loss with the patient and families? own religious, spiritual, and philosophical understandings,` ? coordinates and collaborates with spiritual care volunteers and the Spiritual Care Advisory Committee. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in empathetic, discerning listening and skillful in dealing with simple and complex spiritual issues including spiritual pain, forgiveness, hope and personal relatedness. The ideal candidate will be experienced and effective in dealing with issues surrounding death, dying, and grief and be familiar with a wide range of spiritual resources, perspectives, and rituals. Hospice of Santa Barbara is a unique and innovative organization that serves more than 360 children and adults monthly who are either facing a life threatening illness or grieving the loss of a loved one. Experience in public speaking, education and training. ? Highly Preferred: oMasters Degree in relevant discipline oBoard Certified Chaplain oAt least 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education in a particular spiritual community oExperience in hospital clinical settings oExperience in hospice work oKnowledge of techniques and tools for spiritual assessment and intervention Salary: Competitive/DOE.
