Executive Director (ED) Job Opening in Louisville, Kentucky - A chapter of the American Advertising Federation founded in 1905, AAF-Louisville (affectionately known in the community as "The AdFed") purpose is to be ?Greater Louisville?s Unified Voice of Advertising? It strives to grow and enhance Greater Louisville?s network of all marketing communications professionals, offering member-centric educational programs, industry connectivity and professional growth resources. The organization supports local, regional and national advocacy efforts to protect and promote the well-being of Advertising. Members are from all areas of advertising - agencies, independent professionals, media firms, marketing and research companies, client companies, trade organizations, and community services. AAF-Louisville has been named Club of the Year three years in a row by The American Advertising Federation, and members continually win honors for outstanding creative work in the AAF's American Advertising Awards.
Position Summary: Serving as the ?face of AAF-Louisville? in the Greater Louisville community, the Executive Director?s (ED) key role is to build lasting relationships with current and potential sponsors as well as current and potential members. Specifically, the ED works with volunteer leadership to strategize and execute fundraising strategies, to grow and retain the membership, to ensure the smooth operation of the organization, to lead the membership in the execution of cultivation and stewardship procedures, and to oversee budgets and finances. The ED also manages one full-time staff member.
Responsibilities:
1. Serves as the leader of AAF-Louisville and provides continuity for operations, working for a volunteer Board of Directors of up to 45 individuals, managing a staff of one and serving as the liaison for the American Advertising Federation.
2. Develops and manages the organization?s fund development plan, including the management of volunteers to execute the plan. Fundraising and sponsorship development will be a core component of this position.
3. Working closely volunteer leadership, manages relationships and focuses on retention of existing sponsorships as well as prospecting for additional sponsors, including the fulfillment of mutually agreed upon specific number of face to face meetings each week with sponsors and sponsor prospects.
4. Recruits new members and coordinates with the Vice President of Membership and his/her team to develop and execute recruitment plans.
5. Achieves budgeted goals and ensures the financial stability of the organization.
6. Provides strategic leadership to effectively communicate the mission, goals and accomplishments of the organization to sponsors, prospective sponsors, and the broader community.
7. Keeps abreast of national advocacy efforts and serves as an advocate for the organization with the Commonwealth of Kentucky?s government representatives as needed.
8. Works closely with the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and then, coordinating with the staff member, is in touch with and understands the workings of all volunteer sub-committees.
9. Working with the Executive Committee, ensures that the organization?s activities and programs are being executed with timelines, strategies and plans, including ensuring that all organization activities are in coordination with one another and mesh with the association?s overall strategic plan.
10. Manages key functions and duties of the organization?s signature events, including the three key fundraising events, as well as other networking, programmatic and public service events/activities.
11. Coordinates with volunteers and staff member to update website, newsletters, social media, and database as appropriate and needed.
12. Defines, interprets and communicates the organization?s policies and procedures to members and ensure that members are aware of such policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
? Bachelor's degree.
? 5+ years of experience in association or non-profit work with a proven track record of success.
? Experience working with and managing a diverse group of volunteers (Board level preferred).
? Demonstrated fundraising experience, especially with corporate solicitation, acquisition and stewardship.
? Strong written and verbal communications skills with professional presentation and marketing skills in particular.
? Proficient use of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel. Experience with customer or donor relationship management databases (CRM/DRM) a plus.
