POSITION PURPOSE:
Accountable for the entire credit granting and collection process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processes all credit applications to assess credit worthiness of potential customers.
Recommends appropriate credit limits.
Performs periodic credit worthiness reviews of existing customers.
Responsible for collecting all customer past due invoices and invalid deductions.
Monitors customer accounts to identify overdue payments.
Finds and contacts customers to arrange debt payments - must have thorough follow-up.
Keeps accurate records and reports on collection activity.
Maintains periodic reports: credit hold and month end top 25 accounts.
Reconciles customer accounts.
Reviews orders daily to identify past due customers and cash in advance customers that may need immediate attention.
Researches and resolves customer deductions.
Identifies daily invoices to be mailed, emailed, or processed thru 3rd party on-line billing system.
Files all appropriate paperwork.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum education: High School Diploma or GED. College degree is a plus.
Minimum experience: 3 years as a collection specialist.
Preferred experience: 5 years as a collection specialist at a manufacturing company.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient user of computer accounting software.
Proficient user of computer programs including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets (excel), internet and e-mail.
Strong, communication, organization, and time management skills.
Able to multi- task and bring tasks to closure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Problem solving skills.
Skilled in negotiating.
Organized, professional, thorough, and self motivated.
Able to file alphabetically and numerically.
Able to work with minimum supervision.
Must have excellent decision making and reasoning skills.
Patient, diplomatic, and even tempered.
Positive attitude and courteous.
Ability to prioritize tasks, and handle multiple tasks.

SOPs as required.
Sexual Harassment Prevention Training.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly required to lift up to 5 pounds throughout the week
Occasionally required to walk up and down stairs.
Continuous mental and visual attention required.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Fine manual motor dexterity required to complete forms and other paperwork.
Regularly required to sit at a desk and perform work.
Computer typing/data entry is required throughout the day.
Occasionally required to move files and papers in boxes to and from storage locations inside and outside of the building.
Regularly required to sit, stand, reach, bend and walk about the building.
Moderate physical effort required.
Continuous mental and visual attention required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works in a climate controlled office separate from the manufacturing floor.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Required only when on the manufacturing floor.
OTHER:
Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
