Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller role is tasked with providing reliable and timely financial statements, financial scorecards and other metrics that meet the needs of the management team and investors. This role will be called upon to work with the company?s external advisors (e.g., tax professionals and external auditors) and to assist the Corporate Controller in ensuring that proper controls and procedures are in place to adequately safeguard the company's assets. Reporting Relationships:
The Assistant Controller will report directly to the Corporate Controller. Reporting directly to the Assistant Controller will be 5-10 members of the accounting team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Controller will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Controller with the overall accounting, reporting, treasury, and payroll functions for the company. Specifically, this role will be responsible for:
Ensuring accounting policies and procedures are consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and effective internal controls.
The preparation and consolidation of financial statements, including providing support to the Director of Finance with the preparation of the monthly MD&A and key performance metrics.
Participating in the annual year-end audit process with the external auditors.
Maintaining compliance with all federal, state, local, corporate, and other applicable taxes, as well as business licensing.
Assisting with treasury management activities.
Participating in monthly balance sheet and P&L reviews.
Continuously working to streamline accounting cycle and time necessary to close each period.
Being able to manage workload to meet deadlines, including the peak season demands of respective business segments.
Assist, along with the CFO and the corporate finance team, in preparation of the company?s annual budget.
Perform other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Must be a CPA, active license preferred.
Master?s degree highly preferred.
5-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably in a public or private accounting environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics General Ledger package preferred.
