Chief Financial Officer Job Opening in Portsmouth, Virginia - Responsible for the utilization and conservation of the organization?s resources and supports the Chief Executive Officer in ensuring that resource utilization reflects and facilitates achievement of the corporate goals established by the Board of Directors. Manage the staff and activities of accounting (AR and AP), Payroll and Human Resources, to ensure that the day-to-day operations proceed efficiently and effectively. Provide executive management in the absence of the CEO.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Serves as a member of the Agency?s leadership team. Works collaboratively with other members of the management team to develop short-term and long-term strategies and to execute an integrated, multifunctional plan of work.
Provides direction, leadership and management to the agency?s operational staff to ensure effective development, communication and integration of the tools, resources and systems required to deliver Early Care and Education.
Keeps abreast of trends and issues in the community affecting early childhood education; keeps current on agency?s policies, priorities, changes, and requirements.
Directs the development and delivery of support and management services to the agency.
Directs the development and implementation of data gathering systems and ongoing analysis of demographic trends to ensure that accurate and up-to-date information are used to plan and evaluate the agency operations.
Directs the management of all agency owned and leased properties and the implementation of strategic property plans.
Directs the efficient operation of the agency?s information systems and ensures technology is current.
Maintains risk management and business continuity plans for agency operations.
Leads, coordinates and monitors various strategic projects.
Promotes agency visibility and strengthens the agency image in the community.
Advises the CEO and Board of Directors on all matters pertaining to finance policy to help ensure that financial strategies, decisions and functions effectively facilitate achievement of agency goals.
And other Duties as assigned by the CEO.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor?s degree with eight years of successful experience in broad financial management; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.
Supervisory experience including strong leadership skills, conflict resolution skills and ability to motivate and retain a high performing staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Excellent organizational skills.
