Software Developer Job Opening in Columbia City, Indiana - The Software Developer?s role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Software Developer will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle. Duties include but are not limited to:
Collaborate in conceptualizing and development of new software programs and applications.
Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of software?s business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with internal users and departments.
Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
Conduct research on emerging application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
Recommend software improvements and upgrades.
Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
Design, run and monitor software performance tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
All other duties as deemed necessary
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidate must have a Bachelor of Science in Software Development. Must be proficient in a variety of programming languages, including: , C#, SQL, and XML. Must have an excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices as well as experience with Microsoft SQL server or equivalent relational databases. Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, or usability issues is preferred. Experience with CAD programs is recommended. Must have an unquestionable desire to succeed with a high level of self-assurance and a great attitude towards customers, other employees, and the company. Must have exceptional listening skills. Must have the ability to take initiative and possess strong problem-solving skills. Must have a great deal of patience, creativity, diplomacy and tact when dealing with customers, distributors and co-workers. Candidates should show an interest in developing a career at 80/20, have strong personal leadership, and pride in workmanship and work ethics, in addition to understanding the impact and meaning of having a great attitude. Must be able to professionally, accurately and efficiently handle multiple priorities at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
