This role will work closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization?s architectural standards. This position will be involved in the full systems life cycle and is responsible for designing, coding, testing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting application software that is delivered on time and within budget. The Java/PHP Developer will make recommendations towards the development of new code or reuse of existing code. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, product evaluations, and buy versus build recommendations.
Responsibilities:
Effectively use Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for completing small to medium sized projects; Be the project manager on larger scale projects
Create technical specifications and detailed software design documentation based on business requirements
Design, code, test, and install web applications based on technical specifications using best practices and standard toolsets (e.g., IntelliJ, Grails).
Work with users and IT members to troubleshoot reported problems pertaining to application software; Identify the cause, design or develop an approach for resolution; Upon approval, implement the software
Lead the identification of, and establishment of best practices for web application development
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor?s Degree with coursework in computer science, information systems, or 3+ years of progressively responsible software development and analysis experience
Ability to collaborate with clients and other developers to effectively document the customer?s business processes and other requirements
Knowledge of the methods, software and equipment software development, including analysis and design, and programming
Strong understanding of Web Application Development architecture, and infrastructure, including Application Servers, Web Servers, and Web Application Security
Experience with Server-Side Development
Knowledge of Java
Strong skill in writing programs for computer applications
Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions
Experience designing and developing applications based on the system requirements, utilizing web technologies
Organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills
Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization
Understanding of project management disciplines
Experience with Linux/Unix systems (RedHat, Debian)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid object-oriented programming skills in Java/J2EE
Knowledge any of the following is a plus: PHP, Python, Ruby
Strong grasp of programming patterns, notably MVC
Experience and in-depth understanding of SQL relational databases
Experience creating/consuming REST APIs in JSON and XML
Experience integrating third-party libraries
Proficiency with HTML5, JavaScript and CSS3; working knowledge of JS/CSS frameworks: , Bootstrap, jQuery, grid-based CSS is a plus
Experience developing front-end UI, using responsive design
Comfortable working with open-source tools
Web application infrastructure including Apache Web Server, Tomcat Application Server, networking, and web application security, familiarity with Linux environment
Experience with version control tools: SVN/Git
Familiarity with project management methodologies
