Accountant Job Opening in Spring Hill, Florida - The accountant manages all financial function including: accounting, payroll, financial operations, property management, employee benefits, insurance coverage, legal requirements and donor records.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Establish and implement policies and procedures for all financial and grant management functions, ensuring appropriate controls and compliance with generally accepted accounting practices.
Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors to develop and monitor annual income and expense budgets. Provide timely and complete reporting of financial results and recommendations for necessary actions to maintain the fiscal health of the Club.
Work closely with Club leadership and managers to maintain, analyze, and interpret general ledger for all funds; manage the preparation and analysis of financial reports on a monthly and as needed basis; oversee the process for identifying and evaluation opportunities for improved financial operations, recordkeeping and reporting, working with external auditors to prepare and review audit schedules and annual report of audit finding.
Seek and secure financial support and resources by managing: prepare billings for all grants and coordinate financial data for monitoring grant funded programs; the preparation of the annual request for United Way funds; and all assets and investments of the Boys & Girls Club, including real property, equities, bonds and other assets.
Lead organizational planning and development of operating and fund account budgets, and control expenditures against budget.
Ensure the maintenance of financial records and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all regulations, generally accepted accounting practices and requirements of government contracts.
Ensure a productive work environment within the finance and accounting function.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Human Resources Director with managing and administering employee benefit programs.
May maintain all payroll records.
Train branch staff in proper procedures regarding cash receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and budgeting as needed or requested.
Attend meetings of Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee in an advisory role, as requested.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or business administration.
A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience managing the accounting functions in a non-profit agency, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of three years of experience using QuickBooks and Microsoft Office.
Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes and procedures of non-profit organizations.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organization and analytical skills
Ability to interact professionally with Club staff, Board members, volunteers, and other related agencies.
