Financial Analyst/Accounting Support Job Opening in Columbus, Indiana - Applied Laboratories, Inc. currently has an excellent opportunity for a Financial Analyst/Accounting Support individual. The successful candidate will serve as a primary back-up to the Director of Accounting and the Blairex Controller while also supporting the primary analytical duties of the Company?s Vice President of Finance. This position requires a broad understanding of day to day financial transactions across multiple business units.
General Responsibilities:
Support most aspects of accounting for multiple entities (Accounts Receivable, Billing, Payables, Payroll)
Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts daily for monthly closing and year end as needed
Multi company bank reconciliations
Participate in changes and improvements to the automated financial and management information systems of the company
Comply with local, state and federal reporting requirements
Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, financial reports, special analyses, and information reports
Follow and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
Interact with other managers to provide support for various projects and business goals
Ensure records systems and maintained in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards
Analyze cash flow, cost controls and expenses to provide feedback on overall business operations
Maintain the department?s policies and operating procedures.
Specific Duties:
Process A/R and A/P entry requirements on a daily basis, as needed
Review journal entries and update the general ledger daily as needed
Sales and use tax returns
Reconcile checking, operating, rebate, payroll and intercompany invoicing accounts
In advance of month-end, prepare all necessary accrual entries to ensure a timely and smooth month-end close
Review detail on ledger accounts to generate financial statements and close month
Create financial charts and reports on an as needed basis
Prepare and submit property tax returns annually
Bank deposits
Set up 1099 vendors and follow-up
Mail Sales Tax Exemption Certificates (upon request)
Soft Close
Attend meetings
Cross train on quarterly reports
Petty Cash balances
File form CF-1 for Tax abatement
Indiana Sec. of State Business Entity filing
Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Experience and Educational Requirements:
Strong knowledge of accounting practices and principles
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office application; specifically, strong Excel skills
Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills and abilities to communicate complex business issues in a clear and concise manner
Strong analytical skills and extremely detail oriented
Experience working within a team or independently
2-5 years experience in accounting
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
Must hold current CPA licensure
