AirParcel is an online international courier Start-up positioned as a low-cost provider to disrupt the logistics industry. Through the use of web applications, mobile apps, smart phones and the cloud, shipping services will be requested and fulfilled by an interconnected network of pick-up drivers, delivery drivers, shipping hubs and shipping centers. With seed funding secured, AirParcel is on track to launch in 12 months.
Job Description
AirParcel is seeking an experienced hands-on Chief Financial Officer to join our team of other senior executives working together to launch the company in approximately 12 months. The CFO will be responsible for all financial matters of the company. This includes general accounting and financial reporting, financial planning, internal controls, treasury and tax. The CFO will work with the CEO and other senior executives operating as a co-founder and carrying out functions strategically to help launch and grow the start-up. The CFO will be the sole resource for finance and accounting-related functions and must be hands-on, self-directed and entrepreneurial in order to effectively perform his/her duties. This is a self-paced role where the candidate will dictate his/her own hours choosing the number of work hours per week.
NOTE: Initial compensation will be in the form of company equity (no monetary or cash compensation is being offered); this presents an opportunity for the candidate to get in on the ground floor in an exciting multi-million dollar potential Start-up. ONLY candidates interested in equity compensation are invited to apply. There is the possibility of a salaried position after the initial vesting period of 1 year.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, coordinate, guide and control the overall financial and accounting functions of the organization.
Lead and oversee financial administration and cash flow management.
Prepare financial reports and summaries as well as forecasts.
Work alongside the CEO to develop strategies for growth and profitability.
Develop and implement financial strategy and policy.
Establish and maintain appropriate internal financial control safeguards.
Gain a full understanding of the business and think strategically about the company's balance sheet.
Ensure that accounting policies, procedures and controls comply with generally accepted accounting principles, government regulations and guidelines.
Design and implement financial reporting systems.
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports that accurately reflect the financial position of the organization.
Identify and present financial issues and make recommendations on appropriate actions for resolution.
Establish and maintain all banking relationships.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure corporate assets are safeguarded, including confidential data.
Provide general business and financial advice to company executives on the overall operations and financial condition of the organization.
Provide technical support and direction to senior management staff to ensure compliance with government rules and regulations.
Perform other financial and accounting duties as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; an MBA would be a plus.
5+ years? experience in a senior role, partnering with senior executives, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to communicate effortlessly with a wide spectrum of individuals, both internal and external.
Proven capability to work in a high-energy, fast-paced, roll-up-the-sleeves environment.
Possess the ability to think beyond the confines of the finance and contribute to the broader strategy of the organization.
Experience in a senior role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
Ability to balance the needs of a dynamic, fast-ramp start-up company with the overarching requirements of fiscal responsibility.
Must be a Finance and Accounting expert fully ?plugged in? on all topics relating to financial control, financial systems, accounting and financial management of the company.
Ability to provide leadership in the facilitation of corporate goals, governance, and to act as a sounding board and confidant for the CEO on a variety of issues and topics.
Well-versed in the creation of robust, scalable, and flexible financial models.
Active CPA certification a plus
