Medical Billing Specialist Job Opening in Orem, Utah - Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Job Description: The candidate in this position will be involved from start-to-finish in the claims process and will be responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. This candidate will also be responsible for submitting claims and following up with insurance companies.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit claims to various insurance companies electronically, by CMS-1500 paper form or using excel
Identify and resolve billing complaints
Prepare, review and send statements
Data entry and clerical work including
Review accounts for possible assignment and make recommendations to CFO, also prepare information for the collection agency
Perform various collection actions including contacting clients by phone, correcting and re-submitting claims to third party payers
Prepare weekly shipping lists according to member needs and current resupply modules
Verifying current member eligibility before shipping is approved
Process payments from insurance companies and prepare a daily deposit
Maintain the strictest confidentiality, and adhere to all HIPAA and OIG
Required Skills:
Accounting experience or experience in a related field preferred; or equivalent work experience in lieu of a 2 year degree; or Medical Billing Certification; Completed courses in Medical Terminology, Medical Bill Practices and Office Coding
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices including ICD-10-CM, CPT-4 and HCPCS coding
Knowledge of medical terminology, processing insurance claims and appeals
Knowledge of business office procedures
Knowledge of medical coding and third-party operating procedures
Strong technical skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel)
