Corporate Controller Job Opening in Salt Lake City, Utah - Kelle's Transport Service ("KTS") is a refrigerated trucking company based in Salt Lake City, Utah. KTS is searching for a corporate controller with the skill set and experience to advance to VP of Finance in a short period of time. The controller's responsibilities include:
Manage a staff of six (6) employees that include an accounting clerk, billing staff, fuel staff, and payroll staff
Insure monthly close and completion of financial statements in timely basis
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
Maintain the chart of accounts
Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Oversee local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
Required work experience:
4+ years experience as a controller or equivalent
Experience in trucking
Proven track record of managing and developing accounting/finance staff
CPA a plus but not a requirement
Additional qualifications:
Strong desire to take on additional responsibilities and grow into VP of Finance role
Ability to interact with and report to private equity owners that are actively involved in management of business
Ability to influence strategic decisions but also "roll up sleeves" to attack day-to-day tasks
