Wine Sales Associate Job Opening in Scarborough, Maine - We are a small but high volume, customer service focused wine and craft beer retail store with greater Portland?s best selection of wine and craft beer. We feature 1900+ wines and 900+ beer labels?we are a ?wide format? shop with a selection of regular mass market brands but continue to focus on boutique/specialty items and unique finds in the wine world for our market. The shop is a busy place in summer months with summer residents and tourists; not to mention the holiday season. Customer service and special orders require strict attention. The owner is passionate about the culture and craft of fine wine and beer and works in the store nearly every day, can be seen carrying out orders, cleaning and helping pick out wine or beer!
Store hours: Sun 12-6, M-T 9-7, F-S 9-8; Thursdays June-August 9-8.
Ideally seeking 30+ hours/week but will definitely consider part-time seekers too!
Duties include: customer assistance and service, tasting wine(!), receiving stock, stocking shelves, taking a turn running register, opening and/or closing the shop, and helping keep things generally clean and tidy.
You: At the very least we need you to have basic knowledge of wine varietals and regions. Flexibility is key for schedules and personality! This is a chance to expand your knowledge of wine, beer, cider and mead with tasting opportunities galore. At Oak Hill Beverage, we believe the more you know the better you can assist our new customers and our loyal fan base!
You have a strong desire to learn more, are comfortable on the phone, be physically capable of working for periods of time on your feet and have the ability to lift cases of wine, and are genuinely enthusiastic, a team player, naturally friendly and happy person who enjoys being around and talking to lots of different people with different needs. Even though we do have a slower season, even then we can get slammed with a line so you need to handle retail rushes with confidence and precision while maintaining a friendly and ?interested in helping? attitude!
