Position: Technical Inside Sales Specialist
Department: Administration
Job Classification: Non - Exempt
Location : Grand Rapids, MI
Core Hours: 1st Shift ? 8:00am ? 5:00pm, with an hour lunch break
Wage: $17.00 ? $20.00
Pay Type: Hourly
Supervision: Position reports to Director of Technical Sales
NOTE: This position may require the lifting and moving of heavy items.
Summary/Objective
The technical inside sales specialist position develops, maintains and interacts with a wide range of new and existing customers in the industrial woodworking market to increase sales of products and/or services. This interaction takes place primarily over the phone or email and may include regional trade show and periodic customer visits. Uses sales strategies designed to demonstrate the features and benefits of the products to achieve increased sales and profitability. This is a high-visibility, entry-level position with growth potential in outside sales, application engineering or project management.
Essential Functions

Collaborate with regional sales management to develop customs in strategic geographical area(s).
Contact existing and former customers as well as new prospects via phone and email to communicate opportunities to extend initiatives with the company.
Research and contact prospects in the targeted strategic area(s).
Create quotes for standard and custom tooling based on customer requirements.
Maintain and grow these accounts through frequent phone contact.

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed and must work 32 hours each week to maintain full-time status.
Travel
Traveling is not required for this position; however from time to time there may be opportunities to travel to local customers and/or trade show events. Some travel maybe outside the local area and overnight (e.g. trade show events are usually held in out of state).
Required Education and Experience
2+ years? experience in technical sales, service or support functions.
Ability to read technical drawings.
Knowledge of metric and standard measuring systems.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor?s degree in business or engineering is desired.
Knowledge of industrial woodworking processes, machinery and tooling preferred, but not required. Equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
Spanish or German language skills
AutoCAD proficiency
