Plant accountant Job Opening in Lansing, Michigan - Plan, coordinate and control all accounting functions associated with our Lansing plant. Candidate must be comfortable working independently and be able to assist location management with explanations of financial concepts, company policies, and financial implications of proposed activities.
The essential duties and responsibilities are listed below. Other duties may be assigned.
-? Completion of all deliverable associated with the month end closing process. Duties consist of but are not limited to the following: preparation of standard financial statements, calculating estimates and accruals, recording journal entries, tracking job cost.
-? Preparation of the location?s monthly forecasted results file.
-? Calculation of accurate overhead labor rates.
-? Coordinate daily labor postings between the payroll application and the general ledger.
-? Assume leadership role as primary accounting support for plant manager.
-? Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
-? Manage the location?s annual physical inventory count.
-? Manage fixed asset register.
-? Act as primary liaison between location personnel and corporate accounting department.
-? Provide accounting guidance to onsite clerical staff.
-? Manage accounts receivable aging by making necessary collection calls.
-? Work independently with vendors on inquiries and problem resolution.
-? Manage any special projects that affect the location?s established financial procedures.
-? Occasional after-hours and weekend work will be required

-? Strong computer skills and working knowledge MS Excel.

Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Associates Degree coupled with a strong manufacturing experience.
