Structured Finance Industry Group, Inc. (?SFIG?) is a member-based, trade industry advocacy group focused on improving and strengthening the broader structured finance and securitization market. SFIG provides an inclusive network for securitization professionals to collaborate and, as industry leaders, drive necessary changes, be an advocate for the securitization community, share best practices and innovative ideas, and educate industry members through conferences and other programs. Members of SFIG represent all sectors of the securitization market including issuers, investors, financial intermediaries, law firms, accounting firms, technology firms, rating agencies, servicers, and trustees. Formed in March 2013, our institutional membership totals approximately 350 members, represented by a Board of Directors totaling 42 members selected from all membership constituencies. Additional leadership is provided by an executive committee, including Officers of the Board of Directors, select Board members and the Executive Director.
While the Membership of SFIG is geographically diverse, with a concentration in New York, the operational headquarters are based in Washington, DC ? close to the majority of SFIG?s regulatory and legislative audiences. To facilitate broad inclusion of its Membership, SFIG encourages its Members to assume an active role in SFIG advocacy efforts by joining member committees and task forces, which are designed to cover a wide variety of topics relevant to the securitization industry. Members drive the agenda of the organization.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The AP/AR Clerk will be an integral member of SFIG staff, with responsibility for all accounting and finance-related functions. Under the supervision of the Company Accountant, the AP/AR Clerk will provide support for accounting operations of SFIG, SFIG Foundation and SF Coalition. He/She will be accountable for providing timely and accurate processing of all day-to-day revenue and expenses. He/She will proactively identify issues with vendor payments or delinquent customer accounts and communicate in timely manner. Additionally, he/she will be required to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all customer and vendor profiles.
Serving as a key member under the administrative team, the AP/AR Clerk will work closely with the firm?s Executive Director, SFIG staff and the company?s external customers and vendors. Therefore, he/she must possess strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. A keen attention to detail is a must as the AP/AR clerk will be responsible for entering/receiving customer and vendor payments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities would include:
Prepares and issues invoices for all company dues and events;
Serves as a liaison with customer and vendor contacts; set up, terminate, or make changes to accounts when appropriate;
Records sales receipts or create journal entries for other revenue;
Maintains records of delinquent accounts and proactively communicates outstanding amounts to customers;
Collects and organizes incoming bills for payment, obtaining authorization where necessary, and preparing checks for signature and mailing to vendors;
Tracks payment of monthly bills and alert management or contact vendor when invoices are not received or paid in a timely manner;
Records automatic and electronic bill payments in accounting software in accordance with review of appropriate documentation;
Resolves account discrepancies by investigating back-up documentation, communicating with vendors and coworkers, and issuing payments, refund, or adjustments as necessary;
Accurately enters credit card charges and prepare payment;
Works with the company accountant to create appropriate journal entries, including those for prepaid expenses, accrued expenses and intercompany transactions;
Assists in preparation of 1099 and maintenance;
Support Company Accountant to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end close.

As a representative of the premier securitization trade organization, the successful candidate is expected to have strong communication, writing and mathematical skills, along with a keen attention to detail. The candidate will demonstrate initiative, independence, leadership, and will be forward-thinking and autonomous in addressing the organization?s business needs. Additionally, he/she will use critical thinking and good judgment to make decisions and ensure follow up actions are taken.
PROFESSIONAL
2+ years in a finance or accounting focused role
Strong computer skills ? Quickbooks and MS Office Suite required
Strong multi-tasking, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment
EDUCATION
An Associate?s degree is required
