Basic Function: The Accountant I is an entry level accounting position. The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the transactions of the company have been properly accounted for and accurately reflect the company?s overall fiscal policies, practices and/or meet regulatory compliance. The Accountant I will be responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager in maintaining the company?s books through day-to-day bookkeeping and communication with a variety of SCR personnel at all levels and in various departments with the company.
Essential Job Functions:
Track and maintain accounts payable in Peachtree Software; manage vendor files and all company contracts;
Identify daily activity in bank accounts;
Reconcile multiple bank accounts and other account balances, as required;
Post journal entries in Peachtree Software;
Track and maintain Fixed Assets Ledger by coordinating with SCR Fleet Manager;
Track and maintain Inventory ledger by coordinating with Parts Manager;
Assist with the preparation of month-end financial statement package, and updated budgets;
Assist with the preparation of other reports provided to management;
Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual compliance and tax filings;
Assist with year-end financial audit;
Other duties and special projects, as assigned.

Proficient understanding general ledger accounting (T-accounts; debits and credits)
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate must have Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting;
Recent graduate with some experience in general ledger accounting; 1+ years
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) Experience with Peachtree accounting software a plus
Preferences:
CPA candidate a plus
Physical Demands: The Accountant I is required to work in an open office setting. The individual will generally work 40 to 50 hours; depending on time required to meet deadlines.
Work Environment: The Accountant I must be able to sit for extended periods of time at a desk operating a computer.
