As the Research & Development Scientist, you will conduct scientific research and development of Research Use Only (RUO) applications. You will generate and innovate new techniques and testing areas. What You?ll Do:
Design scientific and technical projects and programs, ensuring high quality results
Facilitate cross-functional relationships within the company, identify and resolve technical issues and support new research
Provide operational and strategic technical guidance for initiating and implementing research and development programs, including proper planning, resource allocation, control, and completion
Development and implementation of innovative LC/MS applications
Perform exploratory and applied scientific research
Keep and maintain all instruments and equipment in excellent working condition, keep all work areas neat and clean, and follow all safety procedures without exception
Defining and executing test cases, data processing, calibration, and maintenance of LC/MS systems, and providing "voice of the customer" input to the development team
Any ad hoc requests from the Chief Operations Officer (COO)
What You?ll Need:
Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar field from a 4-year university
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
3-5 years experience as a R&D Scientist
Experience with operation and maintenance of LC/MS instruments
Experience in managing, analyzing, and displaying large data sets
Entails the ability for a hands-on attitude in developing and troubleshooting own work
Extremely well-organized with high attention to detail
Ability to present results at technical meetings and/or publish in peer-review journals
Flexibility and adaptability to different circumstances and expectations
Desire and ability to perform product-driven research and development as part of a small, diverse team
Excellent Project Management skills
Familiar with Good Laboratory Practices
Nice to Haves:
Experience in a Healthcare setting
MS or PhD in Chemistry or Biochemistry
Method development experience with ABI 3000 and 4000 systems
Method development experience with LC/MS systems
In-depth knowledge of Mass Spectrometry instruments
Project management training or certification
