Report Writer/Developer Job Opening in jacksonville, Florida - Report Writer/Developer We are currently seeking an experienced individual for a full time position with a well-established local business. Initially this is an eight (8) month position. This person should be self-motivated, able to work independently, and experienced in all areas of technical support. Below is a brief job description. ? MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to work as a stand-alone technical resource on a project. 2. Experience in constructing SQL queries in Microsoft SQL Server 3. Experience in constructing SQL queries against UDB2 databases 4. Experience in procedural SQL 5. Knowledge of relational database design as it relates to extraction of business data for business decisions 6. Must have a solid understanding of systems development life cycle. 7. Must be proficient with Inter joins, Outer joins, Left joins and Right joins 8. Proven ability to write complex reports using a Reporting tool (SAS, Cognos or Crystal reports/ Business Objects) 9. Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills 10. Ability to format and manipulate data based on user requirements ? PREFERRED SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to read, write and understand query and report writing 2. 5 to 7 years of report development experience with Crystal Reports, Powerbuilder, Oracle Discoverer, or similar SQL based reporting tools. 3. Experience with Business Objects, Cognos, or similar BI tools preferred 4. Strong customer service skills with a team focus 5. Effective verbal and written communication skills 6. Experience with some development language (C# DotNet, Java or PowerBuilder) 7. Good time management skills the ability to problem solve with some management guidance 8. A college degree or an equivalent of 10 years of development experience. 9. Strong skills required for Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint. ? JOB DUTIES: 1. Work directly with Business Analyst and customers to gather, define, and document reporting requirements. 2. Design, develop, and test reporting solutions using report writing best practices 3. Assure accuracy of data and report calculations contained in work products. 4. Streamline and consolidate redundant reports and data 5. Help customers optimize of fine tune slow running reports. 6. Responsible for monitoring the performance of reports and taking corrective action to optimize or improve the performance of the reports when necessary. 7. Reconcile discrepancies between the expectations of data managers and information presented in their reports. 8. Responsible for writing the reports needed for different teams, managers, decision makers or departments. 9. Will have to access, import, extract, transfer or load data from different data sources (SQL Server, Text files, Excel Spreadsheets, Data Warehouse, Microsoft Access) 10. Make sure the data is presented timely, up to date or current data is loaded to the reports. 11. Evaluate and examine reporting requirements for various business units across the organization. 12. Design and build Dashboards using reporting tools Status: Full-Time Work Hours: 8:00AM to 4:30, Flex Time available (6 ? 5:30) ?
