Job Summary
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliation, as well as assisting with documenting and evaluating current procedures. Areas of focus include general accounting, Accounts Payable, and fixed assets. Other duties include reviewing and reconciliation of balance sheets and income statements. S/he will provide support to internal and external audit and work across multiple accounting systems. The Staff Accountant will conduct necessary research to identify and report any discrepancies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Processes invoices on a timely basis
Coordinates and obtains proper invoice approvals with appropriate approvers in accordance with company policy
Researches, identifies, and communicates discrepancies
Prepares weekly check run and file maintenance
Maintain and communicate with vendors
Prepare Month End Close, Journal Entries and Reconciliation
Fixed Assets
Prepaid Expenses
Accrued Expenses
Run journal entries for capitalization and depreciation
Fixed Assets
Maintain and analyze FF&E clearing and all fixed asset accounts in accordance with Company?s capitalization policy
Update depreciation schedule
Prepare bank reconciliations
Support internal and external audit
Works across multiple accounting systems and related entities
Conducts necessary research to identify and report any discrepancies
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance and/or equivalent work experience in related field
2-5 years? experience in general accounting positions, processing various accounting transactions
Experienced with month-end closing processes and performing routine GL accounting entries
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office products with strong technology skills are critical, particularly expertise with Microsoft Excel
Proven strong organizational and written and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to multitask among different yet equally important projects
Self-motivated and dependable with the ability to learn quickly
