Senior Real Estate Accountant Job Opening in New York, New york - About Us:
AGM Management LLC is a 55-person property management company that operates apartment buildings throughout the United States. The Senior Real Estate Accountant will work out of our New York City office.
Job Description:The Senior Real Estate Accountant will:
Prepare and review operating budgets for properties
Approve expenditures in accordance with company purchasing policies and budgets
Analyze and report on monthly actual financial performance
Prepare, attend and respond to government agency financial statement reviews
Handle correspondence with state and federal housing agencies including the Department of Housing & Urban Development
Manage auditor engagements and prepare for annual financial statement audits by public accounting firms
Handle financial performance reporting to lenders and partners
Manage property files and assist with technology improvement projects
Monitor and organize payments of property management fees, distributions and income tax payments
Work with tax accountants to facilitate preparation of federal and state tax returns
Work with consultants and attorneys on property tax appeals
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Have the ability to handle a wide variety of assignments including email correspondence, project management and telephone communications
Enjoy working independently, sometimes for several days at a time
Be comfortable undertaking a variety of projects that change frequently from one week to the next
Perform due diligence for new property acquisitions
Education and Experience Requirements
Required to have bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
Prior use of Quickbooks required
Real estate accounting experience preferred
Minimum of three years of work experience for public accounting firm or as corporate accountant
Advanced skill with Microsoft Excel required
Strong analytical abilities
Ability to interact with senior management
