What we?re looking for:
Avesta Housing is seeking a dynamic leader to fill our need for a Maintenance Technician ? Team Lead, who will provide and manage general maintenance services within a specific geographic region of affordable housing properties, in addition to providing senior-level support and training for a staff of Maintenance Technicians. Successful Team Leads are typically self-motivated, articulate, and well-versed in supervising a team of maintenance technicians and/or contractors in a housing setting.
Responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
* Manage, delegate and provide routine, emergency and preventative building repair and maintenance including but not limited to painting, electrical, plumbing and general repairs.
* Provide senior level support to maintenance technicians.
* Coordinate and oversee all outside contractors.
* Maintain active involvement in property finances, including participation in annual budget process, ensuring monthly property expenses are within budgets, and reviewing of monthly financial reports.
Requirements:
* Strong communication skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work well as a team, suggest process improvements, and see ideas through implementation
* Prior experience in maintaining multifamily and/or affordable housing, as well as working with affordable housing regulatory agencies, is recommended
* Prior supervisory experience and a proven ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment
* Strong desire to learn and understand complex rules and regulations
* Ability to interpret situations and nuances
* Extensive background in building maintenance
* Understanding of general accounting principles
* Strong time management skills
* Proficiency with MS Office products and good technology skills
* Experience working with disadvantaged populations is a plus
Location:
This position will be based in Windham with frequent travel to other properties.
