Inventory Support Specialist Job Opening in New Haven, Connecticut - JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for implementing inventory management processes for maintaining inventory accuracy, accountability and control leading to reduced supply expense and increased operational efficiency for high dollar clinical and physician preferred products. Ensure data accuracy within a technology platform by working in accordance with established procedure guidelines. Serve as point of contact for all supply-related issues at customer site. May be required to assist in the implementation of technology platform(s), including cataloging items, collecting product data and usage, assisting with initial inventory and staff training.
Detailed Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Perform routine inventory management and storage functions for high dollar clinical and physician preferred products to support our technology agreement(s), including receiving, put-away, restocking, ordering, managing backorders and stock-outs, substitutions, overdue orders, perform cycle counting inventory and ensure that good housekeeping and storage techniques are followed. The first in first out (FIFO) method will be utilized to ensure stock is adequately rotated and all dated product is monitored to ensure stock is used or returned for credit prior to expiration.
2. Utilize the technology platform to recommend appropriate PAR levels and stocking locations, to reduce inventory value and expired product. Make sound recommendations to improve workflow efficiency and reduce product redundancy. Determine appropriate ordering threshold(s) to maximize efficiency of ordering/restocking processes.
3. Organize and clearly label stocking locations. Maintain product stocking locations by ensuring a dust-free environment, rotating stock, organizing, and labeling products. Maintain locations in technology platform, if applicable.
4. Leverage the technology platform to proactively identify and process expired product consistent with established policies and procedures. Work with customer's Purchasing Department and manufacture reps to credit and/or exchange expired inventory.
5. Ensure appropriate management of consigned inventory by referencing hospital consignment agreements and coordinating with manufacture reps. Schedule reps to count consigned inventory on a routine basis. Assist customer maximize consigned inventory to reduce financial risk associated with owned inventory.
6. Assist with the coordination and management of cycle counts and annual physical inventory.
7. Maintain electronic data files as necessary in the technology platform, including minimum and customer units of measure, consignment inventory and lot/expiration date tracking.
8. Support customer value analysis initiatives as required. Submit new product requests in accordance with customer guidelines.
9. Assist training clinical staff on use of the technology platform. May be required to act as "site administrator" for technology platform.
10. Comply with customer's policy regarding monitoring and complying with product recall notices.

Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
General knowledge of a variety of basic topics, such as math, reading, basic accounting, typing, etc. Equal to a high school diploma. Certification in a clinical area is preferred (OR Tech, Radiology Tech, etc).
WORK EXPERIENCE:
One to three years of experience is required. Experience in healthcare or logistics a plus ; preferably clinical supply chain experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
A. General PC skills (spreadsheet, word processing and graphics presentation software).
B. Good verbal and written communication skills.
C. Proven ability to learn new technical tools.
D. Knowledge of principles for receiving, storage, put away, picking, staging, and shipping materials.
E. Knowledge of the methods and procedures for inventory tracking and control.
F. Ability to update and maintain inventory records on data control system.
G. Knowledge of high dollar clinical and physician preferred medical and surgical supplies.

STRENGTH REQUIREMENT:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
