Associate Director of Project Management Job Opening in Stamford, Connecticut - Operating independently, the associate director of project management will be accountable for end to end execution of clinical diagnostic tests development in oncology. Responsibilities include supporting the development and execution of project strategies in collaboration with key team members. Ensuring that the team adheres to the cost, time, and scope set forth in the product plan.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Development team 80%
Able to independently manage project teams of any type (e.g. collaborations with third parties, internal research projects, etc.) and complexity.
Develop project milestones and deliverables; prepare reports that summarize key progress and issues on projects across the department and the institute, including preparation of background documents and presentations to Management.
Partnering with the clinical and marketing leadership and team to develop the product development plan, target product profiles, marketing requirement document, and other strategic documentation
Guide teams through the effective execution of management-approved strategic plans for assigned projects; this includes ensuring risk management plans are fully developed, contracts are agreed upon and adhered to, change control procedures are followed when significant program deviations are encountered, communications within and external to the team are effective, and approved team resources and budgets are appropriately planned and managed.
Ensure project data is accurately reported in databases and understood by team members, including information used to derive costs, schedule, resources, and any other data pertinent to creation and management of project plans.
Ensure that team meetings have structure and clear purposes and goals; facilitate meetings effectively and clearly communicate decisions and action items to team members and relevant parties outside of the team.
Monitor team dynamics regularly to ensure optimal team performance resolving conflicts and issues as they arise
Monitor processes and ensure that those responsible are informed of their effectiveness; advocate for and contribute to the success of change / process improvements when warranted.
Ability to effectively prioritize, execute and follow-up in a timely manner, anticipating problems and roadblocks
Initiatives/Process Improvements 20%
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that require project management experience
Support operational
Partner with Project Management Operations to implement best practices across project teams e.g., resource capacity planning, project risk management, team performance, timeline development, portfolio management
REQUIRED SKILLS AND CREDENTIALS
Bachelor?s degree required. Master?s degree in relevant area highly preferred
At least 6 years overall, of relevant progressive business experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology or science related
Experience supporting complex cross-functional projects required, and previous experience in oncology companion diagnostics, diagnostic testing or product development desired
Significant, proven project management and problem-solving experience, with demonstrated ability to develop practical solutions to unstructured problems with limited oversight
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills for executive level communication and collaboration required
Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, with ability to synthesize complex information into simplified, user-friendly, persuasive formats and presentations
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required
PMP certification preferred
