Loan Underwriter Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - At MESO, a loan underwriter needs to be able to work with clients to help them prepare and submit their loan applications. Underwriter responsibilities for this process include: reviewing and evaluating necessary financial statements (requirement vary by loan size); evaluating collateral; and analyzing client character to assess loan readiness. In order to fulfill these tasks, a loan underwriter needs to possess a strong knowledge of the underwriting process, as well as interpersonal skills.
Bachelor?s Degree in Business Administration or related field required.
Three years of experience in, or combination of, microenterprise development, business assistance, consulting, small business management, or managerial consulting. Multilingual candidates preferred, but not required.
Ability to consider alternative and diverse perspectives, interact effectively with people in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
Demonstrated enthusiasm for small business and/or entrepreneurship.
Professional demeanor, focused, articulate and well organized.
Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to demonstrate active listening skills.
Ability to follow-up with clients, partners and colleagues in a timely manner.
Effective time management and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Proficiency with standard software programs, especially business accounting, finance and spreadsheet applications. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
