Accounting Specialist 2 Job Opening in Columbia, South carolina - Under general supervision performs routine clerical accounting functions in accordance with established policies, procedures and guidelines; reconciles and balances invoices from small to large payroll accounts; reviews account payments to determine disposition of funds; identifies discrepancies or account variances and takes the necessary steps to resolve or refers to the team Lead or Supervisor
Confirms invoice status code and reviews and deciphers all adjustment codes and notes provided by payroll account on the invoice; applies pay codes that correspond to the adjustment codes; applies premium payments to the payroll account once the invoice is balanced; processes partial payments, transfer advice accounts or holding accounts, and rejects
Assists with the coordination of activities necessary to maintain balanced accounts; ensures prompt and accurate account calculations and adjustments; prepares forms and letters using the Letter Generator system as required; maintains effective and accurate electronic or manual filing systems, transactions, and accounting logs that provide a quick reference database; provides back-up coverage to other teams as required
Provides back-up coverage for other teams as required, maintains databases and prepares and extracts information using software systems; performs various clerical duties as assigned, such as filing, photocopying, typing, maintaining databases and preparing and extracting information using software systems
Performs other duties as required
Working hours: Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm

Skills:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; this includes needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures an systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology
