Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Job Opening in Omaha, Nebraska - Position Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides both operational and programmatic support to the organization. The Chief Financial Officer will have the primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing. The CFO will also directly assist the Director of Operations (DOO) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and the securing of new funding.
Primary Duties:
Assist in performing all tasks necessary to achieve the organization's mission and help execute staff succession and growth plans.
Work with the CEO on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships and assist in the development and negotiation of contracts.
Participate in developing new business, specifically: assist the CEO and DOO in identifying new funding opportunities, the drafting of prospective programmatic budgets, and determining cost effectiveness of prospective service delivery.
Assess the benefits of all prospective contracts and advise the Executive Team on programmatic design and implementation matters.
Ensure adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass independent and governmental audits.
Provide the DOO with an operating budget.
Work with the DOO to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements.
Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including: organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets.
Oversee all purchasing and payroll activity for staff and participants.
Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the company.
Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved.
Attend Board and Subcommittee meetings; including being the lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committee.
Monitor banking activities of the organization.
Ensure adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
Oversee the production of monthly reports including reconciliations with funders, as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by Executive management, as well as the Audit/Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wage incentives and salaries for the staff.
Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensure a disaster recovery plan is in place.
Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines
Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal.
Skilled in organizational development, budget and resource development, program operations and strategic planning.
Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission.
Flexible and able to multitask; can work within a, fast-moving environment,; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.
Non-profit accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Sage 50 software and use of databases.
Ability to foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships.
Ability to create and assess financial statements and budget documents.
Recognize and be responsive to the needs of all clients of the organization, including funding organizations, the Board of Directors, local community advocates, participants, and employers.
Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form.
Education:
Completion of a master's degree at an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
Experience:
Three to Five years at the Controller or Chief Financial Officer level of a non-profit organization.
Five to seven years of financial experience and management experience with the day-to-day financial operations of an organization
Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable.
