Robotics Software Engineer Job Opening in Jacksonville, Florida - Develop precision flight control software for aerial robots (drones) involved in the cleaning, coating and non-destructive testing of industrial surfaces. Integrating data from a wide array of sensors and feedback systems, create the instructions to make large industrial drones accomplish things never before imagined, removing workers from dangerous environments.
This is more than just mechanical or electrical engineering. You will need robotics experience as well as software for this position.
At Apellix we make large industrial drones accomplish things never before imagined, removing workers from dangerous environments. We need engineers with experience developing new approaches to robotic control, with exposure to machine vision, laser guidance, Lidar, ultrasonic and other distance/obstacle sensors, GPS RTK, and DJI with an onboard SDK.
At Apellix we are looking for engineers with experience developing new approaches to robotic control, with the ability to test and refine their ideas in Python, then formalize results in C++. Our current software stack uses the DJI onboard SDK, with custom sensor and control software written in C++.
Some of what you will do:
- Learn about the product requirements including flight dynamics, safety protocols, customer interface, and company maintenance/big data needs;
- Work in a small but growing team of engineers in a highly interactive and hands-on environment;
- Develop test code and participate in test flights to prove-in various features and enhancements;
- Work with hardware team to continually improve hardware and software to improve our aerial
robotics platform and to expand uses beyond our current applications.
