Program Advocate Job Opening in syracuse, New York - Program Advocate Program Advocate (Overnight) Toomey Residential and Community Services is committed to assisting individuals to reach their highest level of capability and to increase their opportunities for success through our community based clinical treatment services and programs. At this time, we have an opening for a Program Advocate in our Children�s Community Residence. This position is an Awake Overnight shift, Thursday through Sunday. The Program Advocate provides assistance to children supported by the OMH funded program. Advocates assist with activities of daily living, community involvement and recreational activities; Serve as a positive role model for socially acceptable behavior; Assist with household duties and meal preparation; Pass medications. A valid NYS drivers� license and registered vehicle is required. High School Diploma or GED required; Associates in Human Services preferred. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in other human service area or in a health care field most helpful. Will be required to successfully complete the necessary criminal background clearance; have good verbal & written skills; ability to attend training to become med. certified. Excellent communication skills needed to work with a wide variety of people both within the agency and the community. All positions at Toomey Residential and Community Services are required to attend Virtus training within 60 days of hire and to successfully clear the Virtus background check.
