Nursery Sales/Production Assistant Job Opening in Chepachet, Rhode island - Central Nurseries is a family owned and operated landscape construction company with a Garden Center in Johnston and a nearly 100 acre nursery in Chepachet. We are known for our high quality plant material and our knowledgeable staff. We are looking for a nursery production assistant/sales associate for our nursery in Chepachet. This is a full time seasonal position, Monday ? Saturday from April through November. Responsibilities include supervising and aiding in the proper loading, unloading and handling of plant material and hard-goods with emphasis on inspecting and noting overall quality, size and the actual count of order. Person will be responsible for merchandising of plant material throughout the sales yard and proper irrigation of plant material (B&B as well as containers). Greenhouse maintenance, pruning, trimming, clipping and fertilization of plant material. Sales assistance for both retail and wholesale clients.
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience or a formal education in horticulture or a related field is required. Applicants should possess a working knowledge of plant/horticultural material. Basic computer and register skills are required. Individual should be familiar with safety training for handling yard and farm/garden center tools. Should be able to operate some equipment but not required, will train. Applicants should be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
