The Procurement Intern performs an important role at BioTechnique. As the first point of contact for all BioTechnique procurement and purchasing activities, you will negotiate costs and payment terms, manage inventory, and lead inventory control optimization projects. The Procurement Intern has the opportunity to develop analytical, process, and project management skills in this robust role. Responsibilities
Support procurement planning through collaboration with BioTechnique Managers and personnel in the preparation of the procurement plan.
Assist and facilitate the development and implementation of a procurement management system to plan, award, administer and monitor all matters related to procurement.
Maintain and update the procurement management system and provide feedback on purchase orders to the requesting office or Manager.
Support processes and sourcing strategies by defining with the requesting entity the best way of providing goods, works and services, including procurement deadlines for each stage.
Review requisitions for completeness and adequacy of technical specifications.
Prepare proper and complete specification for equipment and materials, Terms of Reference and Statement of Works for the preparation of RFP, RFQ and ITB, ensuring clearance/approval by respective requesting Manager.
Investigate and provide resolution on post-order problems and of progress reports on procurement matters.
Liaise with BioTechnique Managers on receipt of goods, equipment and services in view of obtaining proper delivery report, RIR, or relevant certificates and that proper inventory is taken.
In coordination with the requesting Manager, review and evaluate bids or proposals received and prepare analysis for contract awards and for submission for review by BioTechnique leadership.
Take purchase requests from various departments within BioTechnique, and obtain price quotes from suppliers.
Review prices and product specifications from various suppliers to determine the optimal purchase for the requested item.
Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
Education:
Minimum required education: Current student pursuing a Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in a related field: e.g., Business, Accounting, Finance, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, etc.
Skills /Experience:
Must have good academic qualifications and strong verbal and written communications skills.
Must be able to demonstrate a keen willingness to learn.
BioTechnique will provide both formal and informal mentoring and training.
Microsoft Office Suite
Desire to acquire real-world Procurement and Supply Chain Management experience in a short period of time.
Ability to use a typical office equipment: personal computer, printer, calculator, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, etc.
