Staff Accountant Job Opening in Fort Worth, Texas - SUMMARY
Provides daily, weekly, monthly and annual task completion related to various review, processing and proper recording of deposits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and other general journal entries with due best-practice consideration. Helps to establish and maintain proper internal controls, and works directly with the Chief Financial Officer to maintain accurate and timely financial records.
General
Contributes to providing quality service in whatever capacity is required in accordance with skills and training;
Maintains awareness of industry standards, and is proactive in continually acquiring knowledge in fields related to nonprofit accounting;
Participates in CTL meetings and on committees as required and as appropriate;
Knows, abides by, and if appropriate, enforces CTL Policies and Procedures;
Promotes unified, team-oriented atmosphere in all communications and actions; and
Is professional in appearance, communication and demeanor.
Management and Administration
Works collaboratively with the CFO and other relevant staff to carry out daily, monthly, annual tasks of accounting and related support systems;
Effectively communicates matters of significance and business impact to CFO immediately when identified; and
Communicates regularly, professionally and timely with CTL personnel and volunteers about assigned accounting or operations responsibilities
Financial Management
Applies knowledge of CTL financial policies and procedures, and related documents in the function of daily, weekly, monthly and annual responsibilities.
Diligently completes all accounts payable & disbursement processes to ensure accuracy of coding, and timely payment, as assigned.
Diligently complete all accounts receivable and revenue/collections processes to ensure accuracy of coding and timely entry, as assigned.
Prepares and completes payroll processing and coordinates to ensure corresponding compliance reporting and disbursements are made on a timely and accurate basis.
Prepares and codes CTL Foundation transactions as assigned.
Completes regular monthly journal entries and monthly reconciliations on all assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts as assigned.
Coordinates with other Departments to ensure timely and accurate reconciliations of with other systems, such as PROCARE, eTapistry, merchant accounts, etc.
Ensures all records are organized in a manner to comply with document retention policies and procedures and other governmental entities compliance requirements including but not limited to permanent agency documents, grant management files, Foundation Oil & Gas files, and other general accounting files.
Helps to establish and maintain proper accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
Completes month-end and year-end closing processes.
Completes budget preparation processes, as assigned.
Completes audit schedules, as assigned
Accepts and completes additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Completion of university Intermediate Accounting required; Bachelor degree in Accounting preferred. Demonstrated ability to complete entry level accounting tasks and ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced, changing environment, requiring particular attention to detail. Exhibited proficiency with reconciliations and internal controls a plus. Experience with Financial Edge, or other sophisticated accounting software a plus. In addition, must be able to

Knowledge of Windows operating systems and Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to learn and use any other software programs needed in the operations of YWCA programs. Continuing education recommended to ensure up to date knowledge on accounting rules and regulations, the changing environment, and Financial Edge software.
