Cost Accountant Job Opening in Norfolk, Nebraska - Summary:
The Cost Accountant will work with the plant personnel to gather information to prepare the inventory counts, update Bill of Material costs, research discrepancies and complete analysis and reporting.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability perform the essential functions.
Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
Investigate counting variances and resolve issues
Update actual costs in the Bill of Materials
Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies
Validate the cost of goods as part of the month end close
Track raw materials and finished goods inventory
Responsible for reporting & analysis of data
Production completion and variance analysis
Coordinate with production supervisors and plant manager
Front office duties
All other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be detail oriented and be proficient with various computer applications.
Language Skills: Ability to read, interpret and comprehend instructions and correspondence. Ability to prepare correspondence as needed. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Needs to be able to deal with constant changes in the workplace and stay abreast of all relevant industry developments.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated computer literacy and accurate keyboard skills to perform the research, compilation and communication of the research, and systems aspects of the position. Must have experience with MS office applications. Google experience a plus.
Other Skills and Abilities: Must have good people skills with an ability to listen, understand and assure complete information is received.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to maintain composure and manage stress aspects of the job. Emotional stability, self-motivated and a willingness to take the initiative. Must be able to maintain business-like attitude when dealing with employees, customers and other personnel. Ability to multi--task is very important.
Physical Demands: Ability to sit and/ or stand for long periods of time. Ability to work on computers for long periods of time. Ability to lift a minimum of 25lbs. Ability to travel by car, plane or other means of public transportation.
Work Environment: Smoke free working environment at HFI's facilities. Safety material are provided and Personal Protective Equipment should be worn where applicable. Must observe all hygienic standards in place when on HFI's premises.

Work experience requirements
· 2+ years of Cost Accounting experience
· Reporting and Analysis experience
· SAP or ERP Experience a plus
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, to include Word, Excel.
· Proficient in Email Product, Google suite a plus.
· Ability to be a self-starter and independently manage project work.
· Ability to work as a team leader as well as a team member building strong relationships across the organization
· Demonstrate ability to communicate well and to effectively influence and interact with others to accomplish goals.
· Excellent written communication.
· Effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to handle Confidential and Sensitive matters
Education requirements
· Associate degree in Accounting or Business with an emphasis in Accounting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Business w/ an emphasis in Accounting a plus
