Medical Office Administrative Assistant Job Opening in Baltimore, Maryland - Medical Office Administrative Assistant needed for Baltimore City solo practice in Opthalmology, affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital. The Assistant will carry out receptionist and general office manager duties, in order to facilitate the smooth running of the office. The applicant should be mature, have a positive attitude, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact comfortably with people of all age groups, socio-economic backgrounds and ethnicities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Receptionist Functions * Greet and register patients according to established protocols; Maintain and manage patient records; Schedule patient appointments; Make calls to patients on their appointments; Collect co-pays and payments. * Answer incoming calls and deal with inquiries in a timely fashion; Respond and comply promptly to requests for information. * Liaise with the Hospital to ensure timely scheduling of doctor's surgery schedule; Ensure that all medical tests, required scans, and other medical documents are submitted to the Hospital in a timely fashion. * Process incoming and outgoing mail. * Maintain stock of forms and office supplies. * Ensure reception area is well maintained, neat and clean.
General Office Management * Oversee practice operations. * Update provider payment schedule for Medicare and Medicaid; Update Billing Codes and keep up with industry standards. * Maintain updated list of insurance accepted by the Practice * Analyze office operations, recommend improvements on all aspects of the office; including procedures and the physical plant. * Perform other work duties as assigned.
Qualifications: * High School Diploma ? An Associate?s Degree and/or training in Medical Office Management/Billing preferred. * A minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in a hospital environment or working in a physician?s office. Knowledge of Medical terminology, ICD 10, and HIPAA - HIPPA Certification (preferred). Working knowledge of healthcare insurance.
