Accounting & Finance Intern Job Opening in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Status : 10-15 Hours/Week
Unpaid (Potential to stay on as a paid intern through Spring Semester 2018)
Report to: Senior Accountant
Job Summary: Jeremiah Program is seeking a motivated and responsible individual interested in gaining accounting experience supporting a mission-driven nonprofit. The Accounting Intern will work alongside the Finance Department to help coordinate the deposit and disbursement processing, as well as assist with gift processing and other ad hoc tasks to ensure seamless service delivery for Jeremiah Program families. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of accounting while supporting a growing national nonprofit organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Accounting
Accurately record records in QuickBooks, and issue reports and support to various groups in a timely manner
Assist with general accounting procedures
Assist with accounts receivable and payable
Support disbursements and payment processing. Ensure all disbursements are coded to the proper account and cost center, and approved in accordance with financial policies and procedures
Provide support in various areas of gift processing, including reconciliation, data pulls/imports and other activities within Raiser's Edge software
Assist with the preparation of ad hoc analysis and other internal reports

Qualifications:
Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited local University, with a major in Business, Accounting, Finance or Economics, with current GPA of 3.0 or above (Minimum Junior level standing)
Strong technical and organizational skills in addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills, in a professional environment
A high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to assume responsibility for project completion in line with established deadlines
Passion for the Jeremiah Program mission and values
