Assistant Accountant Job Opening in Mission Viejo, California - Here is your opportunity to work at beautiful Lake Mission Viejo Association! For 39 years, the Lake Association has owned and operated the Lake facilities, which include approximately 124 surface acres of water and 50 acres of land, including two beaches and marina, parking facilities, the market on the dock, a dam, offices and a Clubhouse. Our member amenities include picnicking, sunning, boating and SUP?s, fishing, clubhouse rental, special events and summer concerts.
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, coordinates A/P, cash, general ledger, billing statements and records. Assists the Controller in month-end activities, audit functions, financial reporting and analysis, budget preparation, and IT support.
Responsibilities:
Performs weekly full-cycle Accounts Payable
Coordinates cash handling: petty cash distribution and reconciliation, safe counts, cash ordering, courier relations and cash controls
Coordinates billing preparation and execution, statement review, balancing, cash receipt posting and checks assigned transactions
Prepares daily cash statement and maintains detailed reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts, including bank and credit card statements.
Assists the Controller in preparation of month end close
Assists with basic IT help desk support for internal customers
Assists controller with the support of three designated departments and special projects
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Competencies :
1+ years progressive accounting/finance experience
Bachelor?s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
Must have strong technology skills (Microsoft Office Suite especially strong Excel skills)
IT background and system knowledge preferred
Proficient knowledge of Asyst Data Systems and related accounting software preferred.
Excellent customer service skills and mindset, effective communications skill, both oral and written, exception organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
