Position
Position:
The Hospital Administrator is responsible for overseeing general operations and management of the acute facility and facilitates and the effective and efficient care of clients. As the leader of the management team, the Hospital Administrator ensures the development and evaluation of standards, programs, and practices that are consistent with the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the organization. The ideal candidate will have operations, case management, business development experience serving as either a VP of Operations, Administrator Assistant or Associate Administrator. This position is for someone who is ready to move up the corporate ladder.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the control of expenses in department.
Follows established hospital policies and procedures in controlling expenses, i.e.
Overtime Policy and Procedure.
CER policy and procedure.
Expenditures not to exceed budgeted levels.
Staffing to remain within budgeted hours.
Assures proper scheduling to meet the needs of the hospital.
In addition, responsible to ensure reported hours actual paid hours.
Control overtime, Responsible to ensure that the hospital?s overtime policy and procedure are followed.
Policy and Procedure Manual must be reviewed at least annually.
Updates policies and procedures as required and obtains proper signatures prior to implementing new and/or revised
Maintains an up-to-date Quality Assurance program making sure that it complies with all State, Federal, JCAHO and other regulations.
Completes evaluation at least one week prior to effective date.
Double checks to assure all needed documentation and computations are complete and accurate.
Maintains an up-to-date In-service program.
Should have at least one departmental in-service per month to discuss both hospital and departmental policies and procedures as well as prior month?s operations.
Minutes to be recorded and filed in a binder.
All employees should sign-in at meeting or after reviewing minutes.
Completes payroll per established policy and procedure.
Completes per request and time schedule.
Performance
Develops goals, objectives and policies for areas of responsibility.
Coordinates and monitors activities.
Interprets objectives, policies and procedures.
Manages the activities of assigned functions and contract services.
Contribute to strategic planning activities.
Evaluates performance of functions at facilities under my direction and evaluates performance clinical coordinator.
Evaluates requests for new or additional services or programs.
Collaborates with clinical coordinator and monitors compliance with regulatory agencies.
Monitors facility performance of goals and standards of patient care.
Devises and maintains formal and informal communication systems. Utilizes regularly scheduled staff meetings for the exchange of information.
Establishes and maintains productive working relationships with the Medical Staff, Executive Management Team and other Administrative Directors.
Demonstrates the ability to identify and solve problems. Uses initiative and professional judgement to reach quality decisions.
Provides professional leadership and role model through planning, organizing, coordinating and continually monitoring and evaluating functional areas of responsibility.
Requirements
Five (5) years management experience as an administrative or comparable management experience.
Baccalaureate degree in Hospital Administration, or School of Nursing, Bachelor?s Degree preferred. Appropriate experience as a Department Manager/Director will be considered in lieu of degree with concurrent enrollment in bachelor?s program.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients and the general public. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
