Accounts Payable Specialist Job Opening in Portland, Oregon - Report To: Accounting Manager
Classification: Paid Position, Non-exempt
Position Time: Part-time, 20 hours per week
Job Summary
Oversee all accounts payable responsibilities under the guidance of the Accounting Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
Process reimbursement requests including entering information according to the accounting code in the fund accounting system, Abila MIP.
Prepare and process checks no less than weekly or as needed.
Match invoices to checks and obtain signatures for checks. Disburse checks according to internal protocol.
Maintain all 1099 records
Respond to vendor inquires.
Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies.
Assist, as required, in month end closing.
Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with NWFS protocol and accepted accounting practice including timely filing, scanning, and saving documents in appropriate files.
Assist in other projects as required.
Attend staff meetings, trainings and other employment activities as required.
Ensure protection of confidentiality when data are collected, entered, discussed, transmitted, and stored.
Accept the guidance of the Accounting Manager and Executive Director in the spirit of cooperation and maintaining an honest and professional working relationship.
Job Qualifications
Completed AA or BS/BA
Minimum 2 years experience working in accounts payable
Prefer experience with Abila MIP, but must be familiar with fund accounting software.
Prefer experience with ADP payroll system
Must have great attention to detail
Must pass criminal background check prior to starting work
Accepts direction well and works well with others
Able to work in a busy, fast-paced work environment.
Must have reliable transportation
Working Conditions
Must be available for flexible work hours. Must be able to walk up one flight of stairs. Involves frequent use of a computer. Frequent use of phones to communicate with current and potential clients and partners. Must be able to sit for an extended length of time. Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Compensation: Pro-rated sick and vacation time. $15 to 17.75 per hour depending upon experience including experience with ADP. Position hours may increase.
