Application Developer Job Opening in Grand Rapids, Michigan - Summary : The Application Developer is a key part of the Software Development team, responsible for software support of critical business application and enhancements to our current systems environment. This position reports to the Manager of Software Development and takes direction from the Vice President of Service Delivery as well.
:
Interact with end user via phone, email and trouble tickets to resolve support issues related to US Signal internal applications.
Work in conjunction with other in Software Development to design, code, test, debug, deploy, and document new functionality for existing US Signal applications and new applications, as defined by the business.
Support of business intelligence reports using reporting software.
Work in conjunction with Network Administrators to escalate and resolved business impacting systems issues.
Other projects as assigned by US Signal Management.
Competencies :
Strong working knowledge of SQL, JavaScript and CSS
Strong working knowledge of HTTP and a server-side scripting language
Functional knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration
Functional knowledge of TCP/IP and enterprise networking services
Ability and desire to work in a fast paced environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Must be well-organized and have strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work well independently in addition to working well within a team.
Education : Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred.
Experience :
Previous experience working in an IT/IS environment is required.
Experience with one database, one scripting language, etc. from the following list:
Relevant Server-side Scripting Languages: PHP, JavaScript, Ruby, Python
Relevant Client-side JavaScript Frameworks: jQuery, AngularJS, Backbone
Relevant Databases: MySQL, PostgresSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, DB2
Relevant Operating Systems: Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOs, Arch, etc.) FreeBSD, Solaris
Working Conditions and Physical Demands: This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a professional office environment and this role routinely uses standard office equipment.
