SENIOR PRODUCT LINE SUPERVISOR (MANUFACTURING) Job Opening in CHINO, California - Seeking Production Supervisor who will be responsible for all production activities in the production area. Manages 20+ hourly employees in a nonunion environment that has several production lines. Coaches and develops the hourly workers. Develops, updates, and manages to the production shipping schedule. Works with manufacturing engineers to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and eliminate waste. Manages the schedule for all hourly workers. Works with manufacturing engineering outside departments to improve efficiency and reduce cost of goods sold.
Responsibilities include:
- Updates the Work Order master list (production scheduling list/shipping list).
- Works with planning to determine material need dates and work order kit releases.
- Chairs the morning production meeting in the absence of the Production Manager.
- Set the manufacturing work flow based on Sales Order and Work Order due dates.
- Working with the Production Manager, manages staffing level against the production plan.
- Working with the manufacturing engineering staff, develops time standards, monitors equipment utilization, develops ways to improve equipment utilization and make efficient use of floor space. Also, to identify and implement methods of process improvements and productivity.
- Provide overall supervision of all hourly technician personnel; the daily schedule and overtime schedule needed to support shipping promise dates.
- Develops and executes plans to improve the output of all personnel through structured training programs and quantitative output monitoring.
- Applies LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma to create an environment of continuous process improvement.
Requirement:
- Technical degree in mechanical, electrical, optical engineering; or material science, equivalent job experience may be substituted.
- Ten or more years of manufacturing experience, with a minimum of 3 years holding a direct supervisory position in a technology company. Experience manufacturing instrument and complex analytical equipment very helpful.
- Experience in improving production in optical fabrication, precision mechanical assembly, fiber optic components, or small precision instruments. The resume must show results.
- Must be a good coach, developer of people, and team builder.
- Must have experience in a Continuous Process Improvement environment.
- Experience working in a small to medium size company.
- Must be experienced using word-processing, presentation, and spreadsheets.
- Good English speaking and written communication skills mandatory.
- Must have presentation skills of a level sufficient to conduct meeting and reviews within the company and customer presentations.
