AP/AR Specialist with excellent organizational skills Job Opening in Washington, District of columbia - PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The accounting assistant will support the finance and other departments in carrying out certain accounting and other administrative responsibilities.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Primary Duties
Finance/Accounting
Maintain financial record keeping and reporting systems
Manage & execute monthly accounting closing cycle
Produce monthly and ad hoc financial reports using a computer-based accounting system
Oversight of general ledger account maintenance and activity
Assist with annual financial statement audit
Track and allocate general and administrative costs to respective entities
Monitor cash flow and Foundation investments
Budget
Assist with preparation and monitoring of annual operating budget.
Works with HQ and Regional/Club management in developing their projected revenue, expense, and staffing levels for the fiscal year.
Tax and other regulatory filings
Assist with coordination efforts to ensure proper and timely submittal of various required filings: Form 990, Form 5500, charitable registrations, local real estate and other filings, etc.
Payroll Back-up for HR staff in payroll processing.
General
Serve as primary liaison with program staff
Assist with special projects
Perform other duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective operations of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree in accounting.
2-5 years of experience in accounting (preferably public accounting and/or non-profit environment);
Advanced financial modeling, planning and analysis skills, a plus;
Ability to work under occasional pressure;
Ability to adjust to constant changes and handle multiple tasks;
Ability to think and problem solve creatively in a fast-paced environment;
Advanced Microsoft Office and computer applications skills;
Effective oral and written communication skills;
Strong interest in making a difference in the lives of young people;
A ?yes, can do? mindset and a positive, team-oriented attitude;
Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain confidentiality.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normal office working environment.
