Accounts Payable Assistant Job Opening in Washington, District of columbia - WC Smith has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Property Management accounting team. The successful candidate will take ownership of all aspects of data entry, vendor payments and accounts payable functions for a portfolio of properties. This position requires significant interaction with vendors and property staff on a regular basis.
Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of accounts payable functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (?GAAP?), Financial Accounting Standards (?FAS?) and the company?s accounting practices to ensure that accounting policies, effective controls and efficient procedures are implemented and enforced to safeguard company assets.
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
Process vendor invoices and time sensitive mortgage and loan payments, including coding payable transactions with proper general ledger accounts; responding to internal and external vendor inquiries; and acting as internal and external accounts payable liaison.
Maintain filing system.
Execute check runs.
Perform accurate data entry in accounting system using a variety of workflows.
Match and distribute checks to vendors.
Receive and date stamp incoming payables.
Year-end 1099 reconciliations and processing.
Produce ad-hoc reports as requested.
Order payable supplies (i.e. envelopes and check stock)
Perform other duties as required.
Career Experience:
Knowledge of best practices in the areas of accounts payable and bookkeeping.
Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external parties at all levels and manage confidential financial matters.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, as well as Jenark, Realpage and or Yardi accounting software preferred.
Excellent organizational and data entry skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team player.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize projects to meet required deadlines.
Strong work ethic, multi-tasking skills, and extreme attention to detail.
Knowledge of the hotel or commercial real estate industry is desirable.
Sales and use tax knowledge is desirable but not preferred.
High level of customer service approach.
Significant project management experience.
Solid communication skills ? both verbal and written.
Exemplary problem-solving and analytic skills.
