Accountant Job Opening in Stratford, Connecticut - Accountant
We are a fast-growing manufacturing company located in the Fairfield county area looking to hire an Accountant. This position reports directly to the CFO and the right candidate will help us set up and manage our accounting responsibilities by bringing expertise and a willingness to take on an interesting, challenging opportunity.
Essential Functions:
Assist CFO with month end closings, preparation of monthly financial statements with analysis.
Assist CFO with year-end closing.
Responsible for booking all adjusting journal entries monthly.
Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and report variances monthly.
Be a contributor in weekly department meetings and come prepared to discuss your activities, issues, progress, and ideas.
Manage weekly payroll and Time & Attendance in ADP. Includes G/L transactions, payroll journal entries, employee security and management.
Produce and publish a weekly financial summary including analysis of significant events.
Publish daily cash report. Highlight receipts over $50k. Enter cash receipts daily and communicate significant receipts to management.
Present ideas for process improvements.
Maintain 401k program with outside administrators.
Maintain all bank transactions and transfers.
Maintain chart of accounts. Change status on inactive accounts.
Assist CFO with the annual budget and latest annual estimates.
Maintain Fixed Asset ledgers and calculate depreciation, amortization. Conduct fixed asset inventory and reconcile to asset ledgers.
Assist with the preparation of Property Tax Returns.
Conduct account analyses as requested by CFO and senior management.
Maintain accounting for various LLC?s.
File quarterly Sales and Use Tax Returns in Connecticut.
Assist with year-end physical inventory audit.
Perform other accounting and clerical duties as necessary.
Required Education and Experience
A bachelor?s degree and three to five years of accounting experience, or seven years of experience in the accounting field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
Training and ensuring compliance with other department managers in proper accounting policy.
Strong knowledge of ERP Systems and Excel.
Prefer accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
ADP Payroll experience a plus.
