Corporate Controller Job Opening in South Jordan, Utah - Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting financial processes and financial statements that are solid, efficient and audit ready. The Controller will be part of a team that creates procedures to make the close and reporting processes more efficient and accurate, and implements policies and procedures to identify, resolve and document accounting issues.
Essential Functions:
Supervision of all accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger
Review and record journal entries required to accurately reflect the monthly activity
Review monthly accounting close process, and documentation, including analytical review of the monthly
operating results to ensure accurate accounting records and balances are maintained
Preparation of monthly financial statements and financial package
Analytical review of the operations from a balance sheet, income statement and cash flow perspective as
well as an overall business perspective
Maintain processes that record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget, and
performance analysis of profit centers
Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls and processes to improve
the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
Coordinate the preparation of annual financial statements and tax return with outside CPA firm
Assist in preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast updates, incorporating historical results and
future assumptions
Review preparation of semi-monthly payrolls
Assemble and update cash projections to effectively manage cash balances
Accurate and timely production of all financial information
Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
Other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time
Supervise 4 to 5 accounting clerks/accountants.
Education:
Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Business Administration from a well recognized university,with emphasis in accounting.
CPA is preferred but not required
Experience:
5+ years experience managing accountants and clerks in accounting and finance processes
3+ years of working as Controller in service and repair industry, in high volume POS environment is preferred
System conversion/ implementation experience is a plus
Quickbooks Enterprise experience a plus National or regional accounting firm audit experience, and strong experience in industry is preferred but not required
Skills:
Good GAAP and financial reporting technical skills
Understanding of accounting standards and ethics
Conscientious about timeliness of assignments and quality of work product
Accountable for specific individual and department performance
Well developed written and verbal communication skills, ability to articulate recommendations in a conciseand timely manner
Able to handle multiple tasks and maintain control and order over same
Exceptional work ethic
