Salary Range: $50,000 - $62,400 ? Exempt/Salary
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) works primarily in the School Based Health Center at Hood River Valley High School a primary care team member, providing patient centered integrated healthcare. Serves as subject matter expert resource for medical practitioners by providing trauma informed and culturally sensitive consultation from a biopsychosocial perspective. Collaborates with school stakeholders and provides direct psychotherapeutic services to Hood River County School District students, with an emphasis on patient-centered care, early intervention, client empowerment, social justice, and long-term whole- person wellness. Assists medical teams in treatment planning and delivery of collaborative care in the treatment of biomedical and behavioral health issues. Participates in regular interdisciplinary group case consultations, collaborates with community partner organizations, and coordinates further specialized care when indicated.

Acts as a contributing member of the primary care team in assisting the primary care provider in recognizing, treating, and managing behavioral health and biopsychosocial issues.
Deliver behavioral health clinical services with a focus on screening, early intervention, client empowerment, and long-term whole person wellness.
Provide outpatient behavioral health services to students and families of the Hood River School District within the prescribed model of Behavioral Health Consultation Services of , brief consultation, psychoeducation, consultative co-management, and brief treatment pathways.
Coordinate referrals from the School Based Health Center to specialized mental health services, and step-down referrals from specialized mental health services to be managed through the School Based Health Center.
Provides students with self-management skills and educational information necessary to be full participants in their own treatment and recovery.
Understanding human development, medical terminology, best practice guidelines, medications, and the medical model/ practice flow for patient care.
Work within the Transtheoretical Model of Change to guide interventions in assisting patients to progress on the continuum of change.
Be proactive and flexible to deliver evidence-based approaches in many formats including short time frames.
Complete timely documentation in the patient?s medical record.
Collaborate on interdisciplinary treatment planning for guiding coordinated care.
Provide expert consultation to OCH staff and patients on behavioral health issues and the relative impact to medical care.
Work with Behavioral Health Manager in quality improvement efforts

Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic and changing community health care environment
Preferred:
Bilingual English/Spanish
Experience providing integrated mental health and ASAM-PPC 2R assessments
Knowledge of basic physiology, psychopharmacology and medical terminology
Knowledge of medical conditions and how to address them behaviorally
Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral assessments and interventions relevant to medical conditions, e.g., disease management; treatment adherence; and lifestyle change.
Familiarity with SBIRT treatment model of screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment.
Proficiency in Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Case-management skills.
Skills in targeted, brief psychotherapy, and facilitating both therapeutic and psychoeducational groups.
Demonstrated knowledge of culturally based work view, adaptive reasoning, and problem solving practices of Latino/Latina individuals, families, and communities in rural environment.
Experience practicing trauma informed care.
Experience advocating for marginalized populations.
Expectation to excel and be part of a high functioning team.
Understand and work within a systems perspective.
Understand and work with HRSA requirements and expectations.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master?s Degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or Doctorate in Psychology (PhD / PsyD)
Current State of Oregon Clinical License or ability to obtain license within two years of hire. OCH serves a 4 county area in Oregon and Washington so working toward Washington licensure maybe needed.
Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (CADC) or ability to obtain certification within two years of hire.
One year of experience in public health, healthcare, mental health, substance use, social work, or schools.
One year of experience working with children and families.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in integrated behavioral health - medical setting.
Experience working with marginalized, high-risk, or otherwise underserved populations.
Experience working with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Experience working in a program for substance use disorders utilizing medication assisted treatment.
