Medical Assistant Job Opening in Elkridge, Maryland - Busy dermatology practice seeks motivated, cheerful and personable Medical Assistant. Basic job duties involve direct patient care, exam room maintenance and health desk duties. Direct patient care responsibilities are to room patients and prepare them for provider exam; assist provider during exam; and provide patient with educational materials and prescriptions as directed by provider. Exam room assignments are to properly stock rooms with current supplies; maintain medical equipment; and to clean patient rooms as needed. Health desk duties are to call the pharmacy with prescription requests under the direction of the provider; call the patients with normal lab results; transcribe and relate patient questions to and from the provider; obtain referrals; and maintain the organization of the medical records. Applicant must possess excellent customer service and communication skills, be detail oriented, organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to work well as a team member, be proficient with the PC and have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Two years of experience in an active healthcare setting is ideal.
