Behavioral Aide Job Opening in Minter, Alabama - GENERAL ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
SafetyNet is an inpatient Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) that offers long-term treatment for youth ages 10 to 21 with ongoing behavioral, emotional and/or psychiatric needs. SafetyNet is designed to help youth develop trusting relationships, better understand their emotions and behaviors, and develop healthy coping skills. It is also a place for youth to learn to respect and care for themselves and others, to be responsible for past and present actions, and to manage their mental health conditions. Residents are primarily referred by local DHR offices across the state of Alabama with occasional exceptions. Individuals, who are tired of looking for a job, want a new career, or feel a calling to work with children and youth are welcomed to apply with SafetyNet, one of Alabama?s largest providers of inpatient psychiatric residential treatment services.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Behavioral Aide Supervisors, Provide 1) Safety by ensuring residents and staff members are safe from harm, 2) Care by developing relationships through rapport building and creating an environment of care for both residents and staff, 3) Oversight by maintaining supervision of Behavioral Aides as they implement approved protocols and procedures, 4) Behavioral Modification by helping redirect inappropriate behavior and encouraging appropriate behavior in residents, and 5) Program Support, which includes ensuring needed equipment and supplies are available for Behavioral Aides, completing all prescribed , communicating with other outside agencies when required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:
High school diploma or GED certificate is required.
College courses, Associates degree, Bachelor's degree, or higher in Social Service field is preferred.
Experience in the social service or related field is preferred. Preference is given to those with greatest amount of related experience.
Supervisor experience is preferred but may be acquired on site as part of training.
Physical Requirements:
There is frequent standing, sitting, and walking which are in bursts of 5 to 10 minutes. However, there are times when this can be extended working with a client in crisis (time could be undetermined), and at times sitting and standing can be extended with the employee needing the ability to change positions as permitted by the observance and behavior of the residents.
Lift up to 15 pounds from the floor to various levels, including from floor to overhead.
Must be physically able to walk at least one mile without stopping and multiple miles over the course of an entire shift.
Requirements:
Able to maintain a calm disposition during a crisis situation, especially if a resident is becomes violent towards him/her, another resident, another employee, or visitor.
Treats residents with care, dignity and compassion.
Respects residents' privacy and confidentiality.
Is pleasant and cooperative with others.
Assists residents and visitors as needed.
Is sensitive to the residents' needs, expectations and individual differences.
Is gentle and calm with residents and families.
Maintains a teachable attitude and willingness to learn.
Believes in residents? capability to change his/her negative behavior.
Driving Requirements for Emergency Transportation of Residents:
Must be at least 25 years of age.
Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license.
Must report any accident or driving violation, obtained after the start of employment to a program manager and HR employee.
