The purpose of this position is to perform all professional coding responsibilities for an assigned group of clinics and/or providers.
Requirements:
Experience or formal training in medical
Experience in general computer skills and
Experience in providing effective written and verbal
Experience or formal training in anatomy and
Experience using coding
Your knowledge of coding will be tested!
Essential Job Duties
1. Applies all coding and billing regulations, policies, processes and procedures for inpatient and outpatient services utilizing CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes, including CPT modifiers with adherence to NCCI edits.
2. Abstracts, interprets and reviews medical record documentation in order to assign and select accurate CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and associated modifiers.
3. Updates knowledge and remains current professionally by reviewing annual coding changes / updates, Medical Group coding policies, payer policies / publications, and attending Intermountain coder training, as required.
4. Maintains national coding certification.
5. Supports clinic managers in maintaining current encounter forms
6. Interfaces with physicians and other medical staff in relation to coding related issues (e.g. documentation improvements)
7. Interacts with other departments and staff, and works effectively in achieving assigned tasks and goals
8. Actively participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e. CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.).
9. Meets established coding and abstracting productivity and quality standards

Required experience:
Medical Coding: 2 years
Required license or certification:
