The Queen?s Medical Center (Honolulu) is a Magnet Recognized Hospital and a Level II Trauma Center. It is the largest private hospital in Hawaii, with 505 acute care beds. Intensive Care Units at this campus include: Surgical/Trauma, Neuro, Medical, and Cardiac.
The Queen?s Medical Center ? West Oahu is an 80-bed community hospital, located approximately 20 miles outside Honolulu and features new and convenient state-of-the-art facilities with a caring, dedicated staff. Queen?s is seeking experienced ICU Registered Nurses for its 10-bed ICU.
The Queen?s Health System, the largest health system in Hawaii, has an exciting opportunity available for a Director of Labor & Employee Relations .
A successful candidate for this position will be able to function at a high organizational level, providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives to further the mission of The Queen?s Health Systems (QHS).
The Director of Labor & Employee Relations will be able to anticipate problems & other needs and seeks solutions to assure the on-going operations of the Health Systems. In addition, the Director will need to be highly skilled in facilitating interactions among organizational departments and functions by promoting teamwork and collaboration; is results-oriented.
The Director reports to a QHS executive and is accountable for functions and/or activities at QHS but may also have responsibilities, supporting operations at other QHS entities or other affiliated organizations. The Director is accountable for outcomes and results to achieve the annual goals and objectives approved by the Board of Trustees.
Areas of Assignment:
Responsible for managing and directing the labor relations for the Queens Health Systems, including assisting in union negotiations, administering labor contracts and resolving grievances.
Works closely with department/senior management to ensure that functional operations are in alignment with the principles of positive employee relations and in compliance with obligations under a collective bargaining agreement, law, policy or regulatory environment.
Ensures that all matters are investigated and handled in an equitable, consistent and lawful manner.
May be assigned other areas of responsibility
Position Requirements
EDUCATION :
Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, education, management, business or related field.
Master?s degree preferred.
Juris Doctorate highly desirable.
EXPERIENCE :
Five (5) years experience in labor and employee relations, preferably in healthcare in a comparable size organization.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with state and federal employment laws (including federal and state anti-discrimination laws, federal and state wage and hour laws, and labor laws), and current employee and labor relations practices.
Solid understanding of business principles, i.e., strategic and financial planning, budgeting, business planning, organization theory.
Proven leadership skills, i.e., planning, communications, motivation, mentoring, interpersonal skills. Track record of managing multiple , preferably in a comparable health care setting.
